Hello Students and Parents, This week will are still focused on the academic vocabulary that students need to be familiar with before we begin our novel study and explanatory essay. Below, please find an attached list of the words/terms if you need an extra copy. Additionally, students will have to write a constructed response using an explanatory text structure. This is just a response and not the essay. We will review the elements of informative/explanatory writing in class. Students will receive a worksheet to reinforce these concepts. Assessments this week: constructed response and quiz over just the literary terms portion.
Hello Students and Parents,
This week our focus will be on "Characters in Conflict." We will discuss the meaning of conflict as well as the different types of conflict that can make a character grow or change. Students will watch clips from the movie "Up" to visualize a character's evolution while experiencing different conflicts. Assessments Students will write an explanatory/informational response to a prompt. Students will also take a diagnostic test to assess their literacy skills on Friday or Monday of next week. Reminders Students should be reading at least 30 minutes a night to increase their stamina and comprehension skills. |
