Hello Everyone,
This week the students will be practicing and refining their argumentative writing skills. Students will review structural elements, sample texts and rubrics to gain a better understanding of this writing genre. On Wednesday, students will take an On-Demand writing assessment to evaluate their progress. Remember, Wednesday is also a 1/2 day. Students will be dismissed at 1:30. On Thursday and Friday, students will practice their vocabulary and narrative writing skills. Homework: Reading log due Friday. Have a great week! Hello all,
This week we will focus on the following informational standards: ELAGSE7RI6: Determine an author’s point of view or purpose in a text and analyze how the author distinguishes his or her position from that of others. ELAGSE7RI7: Compare and contrast a text to an audio, video, or multimedia version of the text, analyzing each medium’s portrayal of the subject (e.g., how the delivery of a speech affects the impact of the words). ELAGSE7RI8: Trace and evaluate the argument and specific claims in a text, assessing whether the reasoning is sound and the evidence is relevant and sufficient to support the claims. ELAGSE7RI9: Analyze how two or more authors writing about the same topic shape their presentations of key information by emphasizing the different evidence or advancing different interpretations of facts. In class, students will rotate through stations reading rigorous texts, answering comprehension and application questions as well as writing constructed responses. These activities will help to strengthen and enhance students skills sets while preparing them for high stakes testing. Students will have homework assignments in USATestPrep that must be completed by 3/8/19. Have a wonderful week! |
